Task #1- Each Piece Counts

This is the first task that we are asking you to do. We would like for you to contact a person in the other class through your CBE email. Ms. Johnson and I will assign you a person so we make sure everyone gets a partner. There are a number of things that we would like you to find out about them. These could include:

1. Interests
2. Things they are good at
3. Past times
4. Sports they like to play
5. Important things about their family
6. What they like about school

Task #2

Once you have discovered these facts from your e-mail we would like you to write about your new friend and post this information up on our blog. Please use first names only.

When this is complete we will have a good idea of who we have in our classroom community and get to know a little more about each person!

You can post your information under this Post by replying to it or making a "comment". Each person will make their own entry and in the end we will have a summary about each member of our community.

Task #3

When you have completed task 1 and 2 we would like you to now send us an e-mail. We would like you to write a short letter in a text editor (Word) about what your expectations are for this school year. In this letter should include:

1. I am looking forward to learning about...
2. I learn best when...
3. My favourite part about school is...
4. Something I am good at is...
5. I am interested in...
6. I could use a little help with...

Task #4

Finally, after you have completed everything else we would like you to send an e-mail to a parent or guardian. This e-mail should be written to the person or people in you life that are most interested in you doing well in school! We would like you to write to them about the goals and wishes that you have for this school year. We will begin a journal later in the year called TWAS (This Week At School). In this journal you will write to your family members about the exciting things you are working on and doing in grade five. In this letter we would like you to include:

1. What you have learn so far this year
2. What you are expecting to learn
3. The learning goals you have for this year
4. The part about school that has been the best for you so far
